getting started
Unfortunately the best place to start is the least sexiest place - the budget. I’m not saying you have to start here, but you’ll save yourself some heartache if you do.
Then, think about what you’ve envisioned for your wedding. I believe that everyone should get what they want. Take it from me, I had ice cream cake at my wedding!
With so many overwhelming choices (thanks, social media + Pinterest) and so many talented makers out there (thanks universe), it’s easy to get decision fatigue. So don’t be afraid to be completely transparent with your baker about your dream cake, we’re here to help!
Follow these guidelines and you should be on the right track for your perfect wedding cake:
decide your budget.
decide your vision for cake/dessert. don’t be afraid to think outside the box. if you’re uncertain, that’s ok, talk to your Baker about your options.
do research on 3 different bakeries and ask: do they offer what you’re looking for and can they match your budget? bonus points if you like their personality (although most of us are pretty cool).
start the exploratory process. this should begin with a tasting and an in-depth conversation about what to expect.
decision time, choose your baker, follow their booking processes, ask any follow up questions. then carry on with the rest of your wedding planning.
most importantly remember to have fun! planning a wedding can be stressful, but the cake part should literally be a piece of cake.
