how to choose your wedding cake flavors
The good news is that no one knows what you didn’t choose, so choose what you both like. It’s your wedding!
However, I know that’s easier said than done. especially when cake makers like me can’t help ourselves with our unreasonably long menus. Which is why we allow each tier to be a different flavor combo.
Here’s some tips when it comes to making your cake flavor choices:
there are 3 types of cake eaters:
1. those that don’t like cake, in which case we don’t care about them.
2. light cake lovers, this is going to be the vanilla, lemon, berry people.
3. candy bar people, this is going to be those that want rich chocolate, caramels and toffee.
If you choose combos within the “light cake” and the “candy bar” style you’re guaranteed to satisfy everyone.
keep it simple, listen, I love an adventurous flavor combo just as much as the next person, but save those for birthday cakes. at weddings you're typically serving a wider variety of different flavor palettes, meaning if you don’t want waste, keep it simple to satisfy more.
avoid allergens (specifically nuts). there might actually be nothing worse than someone needing to bust our an epipen in the middle of the dance floor.
typically couples cut into the bottom tier, so make that the flavor you both want to eat. the number one thing I hear couples say is “i didn’t get cake.” so don’t be afraid to cut yourselves a huge slice, it’s your cake!
